OVERVIEW

Exposed and owned by the National Trust, knoll beach is a great local option for chop and small waves in Easterly winds.
Not a learner spot because of the crowds and deep water, it is a mellow and spacious intermediate location.

TIDES

All_Tides_Chart.jpg

Ride-able: All Tides

Dropping deep straight off the beach the tide doesn’t make too much difference here.
The strongest spring high tides leaves only 30 meters of beach space.

Riders should note this is the case in all of the beach accept south of the main beach cafe. Beyond the cafe the high tide can push up against the rocks and cliffs.

At the northern end ‘The training bank’ submarine defence dries out at spring low tides and creates a flat water inner lagoon.
At the northern end the currents can be strong, flooding East into the Harbour and West out of it.
