A destination like no other

In search of some warm winter wind? This November, we’re running another kite trip to one of the greatest kitesurfing spots this side of the equator, Dakhla. We'll have exact cost and date details together soon, having put together an awesome holiday package, incorporating kite coaching, relaxation and exploration all within Morocco’s most adventurous kitesurfing destination.

Dates TBC - Nov 2017

Located on the edge of the Western Sahara, nestled between a dramatic sand dune landscape, Dakhla embraces the laidback Moroccan culture for a relaxing holiday experience with enough wind to kite from dawn through to dusk.

The small town, based on the tip of a rugged peninsular, has recently been invaded by kitesurfers excited to make the most of the unique spot. Now a regular stop on the World Kitesurfing Tour, Dakhla’s flat water lagoons are just a short walk from the various rustic surf camps. It’s varied water conditions, enclosed environment and close proximity to peeling surf breaks, make Dakhla perfect for riders of all levels, offering something for everyone.

Set up and run by ex-professional rider, Soufaine Hamaini, Dakhla Spirit has become famed for its casual atmosphere and adventurous attitude.

The accommodation of choice for pro-riders visiting Dakhla, it’s a rustic settlement focused purely on kiting and the needs of kiters. Centered around a communal lounge & dining room guests are housed in miniature chalet style bunglows which, whilst having no extra frills, all boast a sea view and everything needed to recover before waking up to the next full day on the water. Run with a true passion for kiting and the kitesurfing lifestyle ‘Spirit’ is a basic resort with plenty of space to relax or enjoy a party atmosphere at the bar. Salt water pool, yoga room and gym can be enjoyed too, no small feet when in the middle of the desert. All on the door step of possibly the worlds best flat water kiting.

With such a variety of conditions right on the camp doorstep, the local riding opportunities are endless.

The main spot, the lagoon, is just 20 steps from bed with warm, flat, waist deep water and a steady 20 knots of wind. For kiters looking for a little more adventure, there’s a selection of sandbars, bays and butter flat locations we’ll be exploring, all of which are just a short ride or cruisey downwinder away. For riders who prefer a wave, a 5 minute drive to the other side of the peninsular, which boarders the Atlantic, offers solid surf when the swell is pushing.

Throughout the trip, we’ll have coaches on hand for every session.

Keeping things relaxed but pro, Chris and his team will schedule daily workshops, so whether you want to learn something new or perfect that move you’ve been working on, you’ll finish every session a little better than you started. The crew will always be on hand with helpful hints to improve progression and a watchful eye to make sure everyone is reaching and pushing to their full potential.

Independent newbies are more than welcome with our tuition and support sessions.

Our daily support and tuition sessions will run to the usual Poseidon standard with a focus on developing skills, board work, upwind riding and turning. Groups will be small and based at the quiet end of the lagoon. The aim is to help newbies progress quickly to a point where everyone will feel confident and comfortable riding as a pack, all together.

If you think private training might be best for you, 1:1 sessions can also be arranged.

In between all the lagoon kiting, coaching, kicking back and relaxing,

we’ve got a few kite adventures scheduled into the trip itinerary to break free from the norm. Epxlore some off the beaten track trails and really experience what Dakhla kiting is all about.

Down Winder

If all that’s not enough, Dakhla has plenty of other activities to get involved in.

These will be at an additional cost but if you want you to experience something special, or if the wind arrives a little slow and you’re itching to do something, we’ll happily arrange them once you’ve arrived, at a time that suites the group.
