We love to visit Portland Harbour when we’re not busy teaching in Poole. Located just around the corner from Weymouth beach, Chesil bank stretches 2 miles to the south, connecting the mainland to Portland bill.
Developed as a Harbour in the 1850's and recently playing host to the 2012 Olympic sailing disciplines, Portland's layout has always been a favourite for ocean users.

With the prevailing wind squeezing through the gap and blowing cleanly over the sheltered harbour water, the wind is often stronger here, whilst the water never gets choppy.

Not ideal for unsupervised beginners due to the offshore wind, for those that can ride upwind this is an ideal spot to blast full speed, nail technical new moves and work on boosting higher from a buttery clean take off.

Working at all states of the tide there are a few currents to consider and all riders will require a local Harbour permit.

Advanced Clinics

When we’re headed that way, we’ll be running a series of advanced clinics, catering from first turns and jumps to kiteloops and unhooked moves.
Tailored to individual's with a plan made around the weather and the group, Chris will be running clinics to our advanced coaching scheme.

Clinics will run for 3 hours in a group environment at the cost of £75 per person.

A Portland Harbour permit is required at a cost of £3.50 per day or £30.70 per year, these are purchasable from the Local store - 109 Water Sports, or via the Poseidon Team.

Bring beach footwear – the beach is shingle.

Pay and display parking is located at Ferrybridge car park, directly on the beach.

There’s plenty of shops and pubs within a 5 minute drive of the beach and campsite.
