BKC Round 1 - Skegness

It was the first stop of the British Kitesurf Championships this weekend in sunny Skegness and whilst the wind forecast wasn't epic, it was due to build during the afternoons with a sea breeze. That was enough for Chris, Jordan, Max, Lana and Adam to sign up for their respective disciplines, load up the big kit and hit the road for our first competition of the year as Team Poseidon.

Feeling like we'd driven back in time on the way up, the bright lights of 'Skegvegas' made for a fun playground catching up with friends and a great setting for a kite competition.
The wind had different ideas though, occasionally filling in enough to pull out the gear, but never quite enough to give the shred fix we'd been hoping for.

Eager to run a competition anyway, giving opportunity for riders to show their skills in the light wind conditions, the race crew opted to proceed with a fun focused expression session format on Sunday afternoon.
Tough even riding upwind it wasn't always easy, but it was smiles all round as everyone made the most of what we had, doing their best to throw just a few shapes for the judges.

Kicking things off with the Juniors Adam taking a strong early lead with one of the only inverts in his heat, holding on until the end, taking the victory.
Lana's turn next in the ladies and whilst the wind made even riding upwind tough she stayed positive, pushed on, clocked in points and walked away with the win too.
With the Pro mens cancelled it was Chris up next in a carnage round for the masters, all battling for water in very light onshore wind it was laughs all round as the wind picked up enough to huck some moves. Clocking in points for landings and credit for collision avoidance Chris managed to take second place, with 514's Robin Snuggs taking the win.

Thanks to the BKSA & BKC event crew.

Although we never really closed our doors over the winter, it's officially the start of the kiteboarding scene here in the UK, and we're excited for another year of shredding.

With new faces on the team, more Beach Club services on and off the water, as well as a whole load of events in the Poseidon pipeline...it's set to be a year to remember. (Or not, depending how many beers you sink at the Poseidon parties)

Our UK Tour will be returning in April, including BBQ breakfasts across the weekend on us and an even bigger fleet of demo gear to try before you potentially decide to buy.

So, keep your eyes peeled on our Facebook and Instagram pages and sign up to our newsletter below to be sure you never miss a session.

Our adventure to the Western Sahara

On the 18th November we wheeled our bags through Gatwick airport, bundled in scarfs and jumpers, excited for some winter sun and warm weather kiting in Dakhla. Whilst the wind didn't quite deliver for us this year, the group that came out were always more than willing to get stuck in with pretty much any activity we threw at them. So, with amazing swell, we spent a few days playing on foamies in the whitewash whilst the local boys took on the big waves out the back, we headed over to a neighbouring surf camp and rode the cable for some wake action, and got just a little too competitive (on more than one occasion) playing beach volleyball. Everyone had a great time and came back with new friends, a good tan and an unexpected love for camel meat.

We might have only just touched down back in blighty, but we're already making plans for even bigger, even better trips in years to come. So keep checking back to our trips page for more details on future adventures near and far.

What went down in Westward Ho!

We've been in and out of the country since our last stop on the UK Tour to Westward Ho! With perfect conditions, a keen group of winter wetsuit clad kiters and a whole lot of wind, we had a great time exploring this area of the UK and checking in with our friends over at 514 Elemental. Our last stop for 2017, we're excited to get back on the road next spring, so tuned for info on that, for now here's how our last stop of 2017 looked.
