The next stop of our UK tour has been a tough one to call since the forecast strength and direction has been changing it's mind every hour.
Leaving planning more last minute than hoped we're now pretty confident the forecast has stabilised and we've made the decision to make this one a day trip, revisiting Hayling Island, near Portsmouth this Sunday.
Choosing it for it's accessibility in SW, S and SE winds, Hayling offers butter flat water at low tide behind it's sand bar, delivering world class freestyle riding when you catch it right.
It's looking pretty likely this sunday could be a good one.
There are a few things to know before going, and you will need to grab and pay for a local day pass on the private CBK beach, read on to find out more.
Also follow our UK Tour facebook group page for updated info.
We've opted to make this a 1 day trip due to the calm Saturday wind forecast and then heavy rain setting in with the wind on Sunday, so whilst we know the riding is going to be epic, don't expect sunshine or cruisy spectating, it's going more of a focused hardcore riding mission, getting in, shredding, then getting out and running away.
Low tide is at 3.45pm on sunday and the sand bar shows for 3 hours either side of it. So it'll be a cruisy start, setting up kites from 1pm onwards, with flat water riding staying good until 7pm.
We'll be at the entrance to the CBK beach between 12-2, you'll need to check in with us for a site brief and to sign in & collect a day pass at a cost of £20 per rider.
If you plan to head down after 2pm please let us know early so we can make plans to sign you in.
Due to the expected weather we're not going to run too much of a social or put on an advanced clinic, but we'll be on hand offer support, guidance and riding company, look for the Poseidon flag on the beach as a meeting point, you'll find some familiar faces there.
As usual we will have a stack of Ozone demo gear available, let us know if you'd like to try anything out.
We won't expect to leave before sunset, and do have spaces available in the van if you need a ride.
PO11 0AS (CBK Beach)
Hayling is easy to get to by car, not quite so easy by public transport.
By car simply come off the A27 at Havant 5 miles east of Portsmouth.
Following signs for Hayling Island, after crossing the bridge imagine the Island like an upside down "T" and simply stay on the A3203 all the way down to the seafront.
At the seafront you should head right (West), passing the CBK shop and a small corner shop on the right, before turning into West beach car park on the left.
In the car park you'll see a toilet block on your right and a beach front pub up ahead, we'll be parked and kiting from the far end, at the entrance to CBK beach, right next to the golf course.
Getting around is simple, just head along the seafront road to find provisions and other beaches.
Head north on the A2032 to find further provisions or leave the Island.
Kiting at the beach does require personal 3rd party insurance cover (BKSA membership), and a CBK club pass, signified by wearing a day pass riding teeshirt. CBK are welcoming our group with some special rates, please be aware that we'll need to know in advanced if you are coming to
pre-secure a riding pass which will be purchasable during from the Poseidon team at the beach entrance.
Please note that only 10 day members are permitted on the water at a time, we'll allocate these passes on a first come first served basis, if preferable, passes can be purchased in pairs willing to share the time on the water and cost.
About the beach on Hayling, it's steep and shingle, with the kite area located around a 500 metre walk from the West Beach pay and display car park, therefore we'd recommend you bring some beach footwear to make the walk a little more comfy.
CBK Day pass - £20 (per rider)
Our wagon will be departing Poole at around 9.30am on Sunday morning, arriving on Hayling around 11am.
We'll be aiming to be back in Poole around 9.30pm on Sunday.
We have up seats available with plenty of room for kit. We're running a door to door service from locations on route from Poole - Hayling, and as part of the service.
People getting a ride will simply need to be responsible for their own kite kit and eating arrangements.
Let us know below if you want picking up.
Cost for Poseidon transport - £30 per person
