We're gearing up for the second stop of our UK tour this weekend and we're excited to see some solid wind on the forecast.
Blowing from the South West, we're going to keep on the South Coast and head to what we consider to be the best freestyle kite spot in the UK - Hayling Island.
With a vast sandbar that stretches 1 mile out to sea at low tide, the inner lagoon offers a perfect mix of butter flat lagoons which lead into beautifully angled kicker waves from the right.
Heading over on Saturday morning and staying until Sunday evening we'll be offering rides from Poole, coaching clinics at Hayling, an on site briefing to cover everything you might need to know to make the most of the spot and, weather permitting, a down-winder across the length of the Island on Sunday morning.
Read on to find out more, register your interest, confirm whether you'll be joining and if so - require a weekend pass to this private members only special spot.
Also follow our UK Tour facebook group page for updated info.
After a group catch up and weekend login with CBK kite club on West Beach Car Park at 10am on Saturday, we'll aim to clock in full day sessions on the water. Riding west beach kite lagoon 3 hours either side of low tide, then relocating or adventuring on a downwinder during high tide.
We'll have advanced clinics running over both days as outlined below and a downwinder planned for Sunday morning.
We'll also have a full selection of Ozone kit for demo, and might be joined by the Ozone rep - Tom with even more.
In the evening, we'll relocate to our designated campsite where there's the option to chill with a BBQ or stroll to the local pub.
For people who want to keep things really cruisy, our Poseidon transport might be helpful, offering return rides from Poole and transport across the Island, read more below.
Remember, our UK tour is all about keeping things relaxed, we won't be driving a movement, it's everyones own weekend and we're there to help you make the most of it. So pack food/cash and plan to roll with your own budget and tastes.
Hayling is easy to get to by car, not quite so easy by public transport.
By car simply come off the A27 at Havant 5 miles east of Portsmouth.
Following signs for Hayling Island, after crossing the bridge imagine the Island like an upside down "T" and simply stay on the A3203 all the way down to the seafront.
At the seafront you should head right (West), passing the CBK shop and a small corner shop on the right, before turning into West beach car park on the left.
In the car park you'll see a toilet block on your right and a beach front pub up ahead, we'll be parked and kiting from the far end, right next to the golf course.
Getting around is simple, just head along the seafront road to find provisions and other beaches.
Head north on the A2032 to find further provisions, our camp site or leave the island.
Kiting at the beach does require personal 3rd party insurance cover (BKSA membership), and a CBK club pass, signified by wearing a day pass riding teeshirt. CBK are welcoming our group with some special rates, please be aware that we'll need to know in advanced if you are coming to
pre-secure a riding pass which will be purchasable during the Saturday briefing.
Please note that only 12 day members are permitted on the water at a time, we'll allocate these passes on a first come first served basis, if preferable, passes can be purchased in pairs willing to share the time on the water and cost.
About the beach on Hayling, it's steep and shingle, with the kite area located around a 500 metre walk from the West Beach pay and display car park, therefore we'd recommend you bring some beach footwear to make the walk a little more comfy.
CBK Day pass - £20 (per person)
CBK Weekend pass - £35 (per person)
Our wagon will be departing Poole at around 8.00am on Saturday morning, arriving on Hayling before 10am.
We'll be aiming to be back in Poole before 9pm on Sunday.
We have up to 11 seats available with plenty of room for kit. We're running a door to door service from locations on route from Poole - Hayling, and as part of the service we'll ferry you around for session on Hayling as required.
People getting a ride will simply need to be responsible for their own kite kit, sleeping arrangements (inc. booking) and eating arrangements.
Cost for Poseidon transport - £30 per person
( PO11 0QE )
We'll be staying at Fleet Farm campsite, 10 minutes drive from the beach and a short walk from the Yew Tree Inn pub.
Due to it being half term availability is limited and other options on the Island fully booked, so we'd recommend booking yourself in asap.
Prices are charged per pitch night, with a booking fee of £2.50.
A standard pitch consists of a vehicle and tent up to 4 berth and costs £20 per night.
A "single hiker" covers a person and tent, who care shared to get there. the cost for a hiker pitch is £12.50 pert night.
You can book multiple pitches which are confirmed with payment in full.
The campsite has a toilet and shower block, with a very small drinks bar, but offers limited provisions.
Please note that each person is responsible for your own sleeping and food arrangements even if traveling with Poseidon
